Joanne Millison, RScP

A passion for Truth … an inherent love of Freedom … faith in the healing power of Love … reverence for the power of the Word … awareness of the value of listening-listening from the heart-commitment to service-Divine service … Joanne Millison, RSc.PServing as a Religious Science Practitioner is, for me, the natural expression of who I am and the sacred privilege of expressing and sharing that which has always been dearest to my heart.

My life has been a wonderful adventure of interesting journeys, both inner and outer.  My early years took me from New England beginnings to an 'ideal childhood' in Hawaii during an era of serenity and prosperity. Just prior to statehood, my family returned to the mainland where I completed my education in Southern California.  Inspired by the first-hand reports of Peace Corps volunteers, I soon embarked upon my own 'mission' to West Africa to serve God and mankind.  It was there that my 'soul searching' deepened, and my passion for Truth and Service brought me back home.
My inner journey took me from Catholic beginnings through nearly every aspect of Eastern spirituality. In the late 70's I made a commitment to a path of Raja Yoga that remains at the heart of my daily practice.  The meditation techniques offer a lifetime of inner 'work,' and I treasure the deep, intimate relationship I have come to enjoy with God. Years of yearning for a synthesis of spirituality and psychology brought me to Religious Science in the 90's. Finding the teachings captivating … and transformative … I moved through the classes and was privileged to join the Core of Licensed Practitioners in 1999.
Meanwhile, my outer journey took me through various positions in the travel industry over some 30 years, culminating in 10 years as Director of Product Development for a major U.S. tour operator specializing in the Orient. Inwardly directed to make a career change … just prior to September 11, 2001 … I met with our Spiritual Leader, asking for prayer support around this important decision.  I was blessed with an offer to serve here at Seaside as Church Administrator, a position that had just been created to support and connect the ecclesiastical core, the Board of Trustees, and the office staff.

I consider it a great honor to be a member of Seaside's Practitioner Core … to serve, in so many wonderful ways, in the company of such inspiring and powerful God-centered souls … and to serve here at Seaside in the company of our dynamic, talented staff, dedicated to excellence and supporting the Divine's Vision of Seaside Church. I am committed to Self-realization and to empowering each person in the awareness and expression of his/her own Divinity; to knowing, living, and teaching Truth; to seeing only God; and to being an instrument of God in the lives of all those who Spirit draws to me.  What a blessing … what a joy it is … to serve in this way!

Namaste!
