Lynda Light, RScP

Having started my life out in sunny southern California, near the Angeles Crest Mountains, Lynn Light, RScPI was a pretty delighted middle child. My religious upbringing was Catholic and I attended both Catholic grade and high schools in the area. I loved the rituals of the church but I questioned how God could be so punishing. It seemed to me, even at an early age, that God was full of love and that everyone deserved the benevolent Good of the Universe.

As a young adult, married at 20 and looking for a way to be of service during the early 70's, I found myself volunteering to go over to Kenya, East Africa. I departed with a husband and 3 month old baby daughter. What an adventure! I was to spend the next three and a half years in Africa managing a book store, curio shop, and religious art center.  While there I managed to have 2 more babies, which brought me into the homes of so many African and other diversely cultured families.  I learned what real faith and trust were all about.  I experienced many miraculous events. Living so close to nature and wild animals gave me a heightened sense of the perfection of God. I witnessed people near starvation who were singing and happy because they felt the connection with family. I saw, firsthand, what it meant to be genuine and to come from a place of love. During my time there I was never worried about my children's well being.  An African would often come up to me as I stood in the invariably long bank lines, one child strapped around my back, the other dangling off my hip while I was visibly pregnant with the third and offer to hold or play games with my children while I completed business.  The ability to see the God light from within shone on these African faces. I learned humility and courage from this beautiful vast land and these amazingly hard working fun loving people.  My sense of spirituality deepened and it was there that I knew I wanted to find a faith that supported these values.

I discovered Science of Mind when I moved back out to California after having lived and raised my family for 20 years in Wisconsin. I remember writing in my journal on the airplane out that I was looking for a faith based center that was connected to the community and supported the principles of divine love, understanding, and community.  I quickly signed up for all the classes I could manage and became a licensed practitioner. I am now in my second year of ministerial school with the Holmes Institute on the San Diego campus and loving it. I offer spiritual counseling, both on site and over the phone. I have been in higher education for 27 years and have extensive background in Spirituality, Wellness, and Yoga. I am available for individual, partner, and family group work. I also offer prayer assistance any time day or night.

My vision is to see a world in which love abounds and people share in peaceful ways. I see a world where communication is vibrant and individuals as well as families connect through spiritual guidance.
