Seaside Center for Spiritual Living
Summer of Love 2008 at Seaside Center
Greetings Everyone!
What we have in store for you is sheer magic; we are
so blessed to have a plethora of fine guest artists and mini-concerts all
designed to lift, inspire and align your spirits with that great Law of Joy
& Harmony – remember Joy?
On Sunday, June 29th, we have
Miss Ruby and Ruby Blue in the Gazebo at 12:30 p.m., paired with a
fabulous BBQ from the Seaside Choir – with all of the trimmings. As Ruby
will also be our guest artist for the 9 and 11 celebration services, look
for a realtime start of about 12:45…plenty of time to eat, settle down and
get a shady seat! See Ruby’s website:
www.RubyBlue.com for more info.
On Monday, June 30th, Rev. Fran
starts her piano lesson classes in the Rose Room at 9 a.m. (yikes!) Six
people have signed up to do the thing they always wanted to do…play piano.
This course lasts for 6 weeks and is designed to reveal the pianist/musician
in you at a gentle, easy, and fun pace. Cost is $120 for the 6 week
session. 50% of proceeds are donated to Seaside.
Sunday, July 13th, the Fabulous
Sanskrit Scholars, Shanti Shanti are at the 9 and 11 a.m. services
and are hosting another mini-concert INSIDE the sanctuary. This is purely a
love offering concert to defray the costs of travel as they come all the way
from Reno, Nevada, to appear here in Encinitas. The transcendental effect
of ShantiShanti’s pure tones in the ancient chanting along with the
excitement for their exuberant soul music transforms us all. See their
website:
www.shantishanti.com for more info.
Sunday, July 20th, is the fabulous,
legendary Freebo – former bassist for Bonnie Raitt. Freebo is coming
as our guest artist for the 9 and 11 o’clock services. This is the man that
created the Bonnie Raitt sound, in my opinion. He was the funky, groove
king behind all of that slide guitar and elevated rock to a whole new
level. His major contributions to that act are well documented in the host
of albums produced back then; e.g., Homeplate, The Glow, Takin My Time, Nick
of Time, etc. Freebo’s associations with Taj Mahal, CSN, Lowell George,
Bill Payne, the major players just make Freebo a fascinatin’ character…and
we love him coming down to Seaside to share his experiences! Now on his
own…his albums are extraordinary…Dog People….Before the Separation, The End
of the Beginning. Freebo has teamed up with the Positive Music Association,
headed up by Faith Rivera and Harold Payne to help spread the word about
what else – positive music! Mark Sunday, July 20th on your
calendars. See:
www.Freebo.com for more info.
Sunday, August 10th, Miss Eve
Selis is scheduled to appear at our 9 and 11 am Sunday services. Of all
of the people I know about, Eve is always on the list to provide/donate and
honor people….she is constantly providing uplifting consciousness to those
around her…her most recent efforts to a dear friend, Mattie, to help defray
medical costs. We Love Eve and let’s put this date down as a special one?
Sunday,
August 24th, another legendary player, Mr. Harold Payne,
is coming to our town. Harold is the guy that writes all of this fabulous
music for people and then people really don’t know who Harold is. His
teaming up with Mr. Bobby Womack got my attention, and then of course his
music. Writing “We Can Share the Dream,” for Inner City Games, “Music
Speaks Louder than Words,” for 1st Annual Salute to the American
Songwriter, as well as movie themes for Beverly Hills Cop II, Splash, Summer
Rental, Back to the Beach, Harold is coming to share his songs/performance
at 9 and 11 a.m., and then to the best thing yet….a Songwriter’s Workshop
at 12:45-ish in the Rose Room. See me about signups…and tell your
friends. We can only hold 20-25 people. The cost is $20 for a session with
Harold! Harold is truly gifting us with his presence; let’s take advantage
of this fabulous opportunity to be a part of history in the making….(you
know he has written songs for Snoop Dogg, Taj Mahal, Juelz Santana, Kalapana,
50 Cent, Rod Stewart)…check out his website too at:
www.HaroldPayne.com
As this wasn’t enough for a summer of love output….the
transcendental JAMI LULA IS IN THE HOUSE, on Sunday,
August 31st with a love offering mini concert in the
Gazebo after the 9 and 11 Celebration services. We are so excited, Jami is
hard at work on several projects and we think he will be telling us all
about them then!! Yea, Jami! If you have not heard about Jami Lula…think
of a tender soul singing at volume 10 with the intensity of a focused
springer spaniel on the hunt for revealing God everywhere. The man is
fabulous, has so much love in him…our teens truly ask for him for every
concert they put on…..he incorporates his God beliefs in beautiful
song…dedicates to his family….and uplifts and inspires everyone he
meets….Our band just rocks with him on these occasions….you won’t want to
miss this one either. His website:
www.JamiLula.com for more info!!
If you have gotten this far, read on for a complete
listing of Sunday guest artists for the entire year, as I know about;
also know that with the artists’ varied schedules these appearances are
always subject to change….Blessings to you All & See you Here!! (By the
way…the Choir is taking a hiatus to return on Sept. 3d for first
rehearsal…you are all welcome to join…just call me at the Center or email
me!!) Love, Rev. Fran
