We have got to have faith. When we have that kind of faith, that sense of separation is what is healed. If we begin to see form as ugly; as we begin to look at a situation as impossible what we are doing is creating a schism, a chasm, a separation. What is essential to know is that in the midst of that there is love; there is the Presence that is right there. If begin to think that there is God and us, then that's separation. If we begin to think that there is Spirit and form or Spirit and matter, that is beginning to announce duality. God is in and through all things. There is no separation. When we can have that kind of faith, then what we will have happen is that we will become that avenue, that vortex in which the wholeness can once again reveal itself. It can begin to emerge. So often people begin to thing that there is God and something else. 'I have to contact God.' 'I have to hold on to the hem of a garment.' We begin to place the faith in something outside of ourselves. Let us know that you have direct contact with Source. That when we can place faith and have the faith, as Ernest Holmes says, "...have that faith of God not in God" then we're not placing it outside. We become that clear avenue through which the Spirit expresses. And, It will express. It does. That's the way it happens. We set up that harmonious kind of vibration. We begin to resonate with that flow. We become that clear vehicle through which It exposes Itself and expresses Itself.
Ernest Holmes, in his book on how to use the Science of Mind, says, "You are a Spiritual Being. - not that you are evolving to One or that you are going to become One, that you are a Spiritual Being - here and now." It's up to us to have that faith, to remember to practice that. That is what allows the Wholeness to, once again, reveal Itself in our life. But, we must have that kind of faith and not allow the appearance, the ugliness, anything to create the separation or the schism. There is not God and... There is God period.
And when we know that, that Divine Power begins to flow easily into our life, through the direction which you choose to see and to focus and to believe. For it is your faith that has made you whole. It is your faith that is done unto you at the level in which you believe.
This message comes from the ninth chapter of Matthew, where Jesus is in this crowd and they all want a piece of this individual who is representing that Christ Presence; who is representing that place of connectedness of Source, of Spirit. And, a lady touches His robe and is healed and He turned around and said, "Who touched me?" and she said she did, and Jesus replied, "It is your faith that has made you whole." There is the key, right there. It is your faith that has mad you whole -- not somebody else's, not something outside, but your faith. It is your connectedness with Spirit; it is your belief; it is that kind of love that allows healing to take place in our life and in our world. And it shows up in the appropriate ways, in our experience.
Health is in Spirit. Health is Spirit. Wholeness is God. That is what manifests in form. That is what expresses itself in this physical vehicle which has been granted to us for this plane of existence - for a short time, for a long time, the time is irrelevant. This form is part of our connectedness with our Source and that which is out of alignment; that which doesn't appear whole; that which doesn't appear whole; that which may be sick; or whatever the discomfort or disease that is in the physical body, it is not about our Soul or our Spirit or our individual something trying to fix the body, but it is having faith that health is, wholeness is Spirit. This is what manifests and takes form in the physical. We don't have to go fix particulars. It is not a manipulation of some kind of energy that is trying to fix anything. It is resonating, it is harmonizing, it is vibrating with the truth of who we are. It is standing in that total awareness. It is praying without ceasing, and believing and having faith, not thinking - that's a belief. It is knowing. It is an embodiment that cannot be shaken the reveals the truth; that allows Spirit to come into our life.
Remember the question from last Fall's quest for the Holy Grail? - Whom do you serve? Remember that? Whom do you serve? There are some that are serving that sickness. There are others that are serving their job. There are others their relationship. There are others that are serving their checkbook or their employer - who knows - but, ask yourself, "Whom do you serve?" Where's your consciousness? Where are you lining up to? Are you worried and anxious over finances, over relationship, over body, over form. There is this store they just built off highway 15, called 'The Incredible Universe'. You call that store, do you know how they answer the phone, "Incredible Universe, how may we serve you?" Wow, that's great!! "Incredible Universe, how may we serve you?" That's Spirit, how may we serve you? How do you want to align with this energy? Whom do you serve? Are you choosing to align with the fears, the worries, the concerns, the anxieties? 'It's done unto you as you believe' - not as the person outside.
This week, I decided to do a little project around the house - pour a new slab. I had some wonderful help from people in the church. I was breaking up this slab and borrowed Bob Fraser's truck and I put some of the cement slabs in the back to haul off to the dump - not too much, but some of it. I'd never been to the dump before. So, I guess when I drove up, I looked kind of new at this. I was clean. I had my 'oh too cool' sunglasses on. I drove up and kind of just sat there like I didn't know what was going on and said, "How much do you want?" The lady took a look at me and said, "Well, where are you from?" I said, "I'm from Del Mar." She said, "Oh, you're not from the city of San Diego. Well, that's an extra $10.00." I said, "What!!!!" She said, "Oh yah, you know what... no tarp on the back either... that's another $5.00." All of a sudden I'm paying $30.00 here, to dump a few pieces of cement. I wasn't to pleased about that, so I came on back and I had some more. Mark was doing a great job laying out all these steps, but there was a lot more cement there. So, I loaded up the truck this time. But if I was going to pay that kind of money to get rid of some trash, I was really going to load up this truck. I piled it high with cement so it was like a low-rider truck. Then I cut down some bushes, so I really piled it up on top, so it looked like 'Beverly Hill Billies". I mean this thing was way above the cab. I put a tarp on there just so I wouldn't lose it all as I was driving down the highway. I pulled into the dump. I was filthy by now. I got rid of the sunglasses. I drove up. I didn't even ask her. I just handed some money out the window. She said, "$6.00" Same dump!!! Two hours later!!! Same place!!! But, it was my consciousness!!!
It's an incredible universe!!! Life responds to us that way. If we approach it with a lot of questions, with trepidation, with wondering is this really going to work - you know, heh, you are going to have to pay bigtime. But, if you approach it with a sense of confidence, with a sense of assurance, with a sense of absolute alignment - not that it's ugly, not that it's something that you cannot do, but with an absolute connectedness - then you are Spirit speaking, by no means are you all of Spirit, but you are Spirit speaking. If you speak with that kind of authority - not that you're telling it what to do in terms of outlining how to do it - but if you speak with a sense of authority, you are going to watch amazing things happen in your world. In Matthew, 22nd chapter, it says "...according to your faith, be it done unto you". That's 'according to your faith.' Your faith is what make the difference - not the situation you find yourself in. Where you are, you can make a profound impact, if you choose to be that vehicle and that avenue through which God authentically, uniquely expresses.
The big thing out there in the seminar circuit, these days, in the business realm... they're talking and teaching people how to bring the personal touch to whatever position they are in. It adds a little bit more ownership. It adds more sense. There was this one seminar that was being done for a grocery store chain, out in the midwest. Three thousand employees came and listened to the motivation all day. And, there was this one little bagger that was at this seminar whose name was Johnny. Johnny has downs syndrome - or his body is experiencing that. He took to heart what was being said. Everybody else was just happy to have the day off. But, Johnny listened. She talked about a pilot on United Airlines, after the plane would take off and the plane was set, he would get some names out of the computer and write people some thank you notes. Or, at Northwestern Airlines one of the guys, adding his own personal touch, would pick up the bag tickets that have your name and address and mail them back to people as opposed to throwing them away. Little Johnny took this to heart. What he decided he was going to do was when he came home from the seminar, he asked his dad to show him how to use the computer. Every night, when he came home, he would find a 'thought for the day' and if he couldn't find one he said, very proudly, "I would make it up." He put them out in columns and he'd cut out these little pieces of paper with the 'thought for the day' - he changed it everyday - and he would write his name on the back 'Love Johnny' or 'From Johnny". He would just drop that in the grocery bag when he checked. That was his own little personal touch. Well, a couple or three weeks into this, all of a sudden, there was this big line at that checkout stand. The manager of the store came out ballistic and said, "Get some more checkers out there on the floor to take care of these people!" They cam out but none of the people would go to the other ones. They said, "We're here because we want our 'thought for the day'. One lady shared with the manager that she used come in maybe once a week and now comes in every day after work to get her 'thought for the day'. Imagine what that did for the 'bottom line' for that grocery store. His attitude, he had faith. It's not like he was saying, "OK I'm going to try good." but it was feeling good. It was that connectedness. It was that harmonious expression that allowed that life to return to his body - not just a miserable 'I'm just checking stuff.' and 'I'm just doing it to make money.' - not like and ugly iguana - but he found the love and the passion, all of a sudden, in the store. In the floral department, when the flowers would break off, instead of throwing them away, the people in the floral department would go out and give them to the older ladies that were out there shopping or the little girls, and pin then on. There was a guy in the meat department who loves Snoopy. He went out and bought 50,000 Snoopy stickers and slapped one on every package of meat. That store became the hot spot because these individuals chose to connect; chose to feel; chose to express themselves.
So often what happens in our life is we turn ourself off. Say, "Well, I've got to act a certain way." "I've got to be a certain way within this relationship to win that kind of approval or love." "I've got to act a certain way at work, you know it is the corporate structure, I've got to present myself in a certain way." Little by little one begins to shut off and cap the authentic, unique, Divine, powerful expression that is seeking to move through you in ever greater and greater ways. And, as long as we are turning that off, it is getting tougher and tougher to hear it, to see what it feels like. This is why I encourage you greatly to meditate, to take time to sit quietly, to be with yourself so you will know what that power feels like. It's not about what I say this power is. It's not about words. It is not about principles and it is not about concepts. It is about knowing. Prayer is really beyond words. I mean, in the classes we teach a great structure, we call it a scientific prayer. We have definite techniques for praying. But you know, it's not the words and it's not the technique. Those are symbols. Those are phonetic sounds. It is the essence. It is the feeling.
There is a lady from Southern California who had moved to Arizona, and she worked with the animal shelter. One day Tory Matthews got a call that a young boy's iguana had gotten scared and run up a tree and had fallen out of the tree into the swimming pool. So, she ran over to the house with a big old net and scooped this iguana out of the swimming pool. The iguana was lifeless. It had been lying in that pool for some time. She looked at the little boy who was extremely sad and she looked at this hideous looking thing and she went, in her head, "...do CPR for people, do CPR for dogs... no, this thing is a little to ugly." But yet, she saw the little boy's caring and she just couldn't tell him that his iguana had died. So she went ahead and gave CPR to this iguana and it came back. She revived this ugly, well probably not ugly to another iguana, revived this thing. It was a result of little boy having enough faith in a Saviour; the help; some kind of outside person showing up. It was her looking at this little boy and seeing the love of this young guy, for his pet, that she could not say no to the appearance. She couldn't say no to what appeared ugly. She could say no that she was unwilling to try. Sometimes in our lives when we look at people that might appear so ugly or situations that might look hideous and horrendous, if we can just remember the love of the Father; that love of that Presence; that love of God is still right there in the very midst, we will then be able to step though the appearance, the form, the effect in our world. But, we've got to have faith.
You know when Jesus talked about the Father, He knew the Father. He knew that Presence. He had the experience. He had a faith that was unshakable. When we talk about that Spirit, let us talk from a place of knowingness - not because we are espousing out some words that you may have heard or you may have read or you're talking about Father or God or you do the Lord's Prayer just because you are singing and you have to do it on Sunday morning - but because you are resonating with a powerful Energy Force that people have sung and spoken for millenniums. Have that experience that is beyond words. Become transparent for Spirit. Become that transparency. Be like a pane of glass that is about as responsible for letting in the sunlight. Did you get that analogy? That's a good one. How responsible is a pane of glass for letting in the sunlight? The sunlight is. Become that transparency. If you remember it said in Philippians, "I can do all things" That's Spirit speaking. 'I can do all things.' And when you have that faith, when you are believing, you become the "I" that is there.
Ernest Holmes talks about 'there can be no apartness, when we know God.' There is no separation, when we know Spirit. And, when we are able to move to that place, we are going to find such a power in our life that life becomes brighter, more exciting, you will be kissing an iguana and realizing that's the very presence of God that is there in your face. The Spirit of God is here, but you have to believe it in your heart. You have to believe it in your heart. You know, so often prayer has been about, "Hey God, let me enlighten you to the situation here." "Hey God, let me make a deal with you." - as if I've got something God doesn't have. "Let me make a little bribe, God. I promise I'll be good for a week." God is. That Power is. When we can have faith in that Power, that Presence we will no longer be trying to enlighten God. So often prayer has been done in the human mind, in the human consciousness. It is time for us to step into the God consciousness, where the health is; where the wholeness is; where the abundance is and live in that 'is-ness' of Spirit and have enough faith. Realize that it is not you and it is not your power and it is not about manipulating, coercing or willing from your limited perspective, but rather, it is standing in that truth and being all that you are. But you've got to have some faith and when you have that faith - your faith will make you whole.
God bless us all.
